About Girls' Brigade (GB)
The Girls’ Brigade (Ireland) was set up in Dublin in 1893 and in July 1965 merged with The Girls’ Guildry (founded in Scotland in 1900) and The Girls’ Life Brigade (founded in England in 1902) to form The Girls’ Brigade.
1st Woodley Girls' Brigade was started in 1962.
Girls are split up into different groups, according to their age, however we do enjoy a devotional time together every Friday.
OUR EXPLORER PROGRAMME IS CALLED N:VESTIGATE.
n:vestigate for 4½ to 8s is designed to help our youngest members to discover and enjoy the world God has made and is centred on the stories of three fun characters Gabby, Barney and Fudge the floppy dog, who help the children to investigate the world around them.
Our badges include fun activities such as stories, music, crafts, cooking and games.
OUR JUNIOR PROGRAMME IS CALLED N:GAGE.
n:gage for 8 to 11 year olds is based on positive values which our children need and it introduces them to Bible characters whose stories reflect these values. The suggested activities encourage the children to show how these values can be seen in action.
Our badge work involves fun activities such as drama, music, cooking, games, crafts and much more!
OUR SENIOR PROGRAMME IS CALLED N:COUNTA.
n:counta for 10 to 14 year olds is planned to equip young people with life skills which will help them to face up to the real issues that are part of their everyday life experiences as they enter their teenage years.
Our badge work involves fun activities such as drama, lots of cooking, dinner parties, silly games, crafts and much more!
OUR BRIGADER PROGRAMME IS CALLED N:SPIRE.
n:spire for 14 to 18s empowers teenagers to engage with challenges which will help them learn new skills and find opportunities to serve while discovering God’s relevance to every aspect of their life.
Our badge work involves fun activities such as drama, lots of cooking, dinner parties, silly games, crafts and much more!
OUR LEADERS.
Our company is led by a team of dedicated volunteers, many of which have come up through the company as girls themselves.
Our Captain (Team Leader) is Sonia who started her GB life at the age of 11. Sonia has been an officer since 1987 and Captain since 1992.
Our Lieutenants (Leaders) are Claire, Julia, Sandra and Katie. All of which have been members of 1st Woodley GB for many years.
We welcome volunteers and currently are supported by Jules.
